The collection, today represented in the permanent collection of Nationalmuseum, was born in 2008, when freelance designers Chris Martin and Magnus Elebäck were contacted by a German furniture manufacturer with a brief to create a chair in metal for indoor and outdoor use. However, when they pitched the concept for the chair, the Germans said it would be impossible to produce. The building where the exhibition was held is the work of architect Hjalmar Westerlund and originally housed a number of well-known restaurants, a dance hall, a theatre and a bowling alley.
